Mission

The Environmental Hydraulics Institute "IHCantabria" is a joint research center that carries out research, knowledge transfer and training of specialists in the fields of fresh and saltwater. This work has allowed IHCantabria to be at the forefront of national and international organizations working in the water cycle in its various facets. At IHCantabria there are over 140 researchers and the center has over thirty years of experience.

IHCantabria's facilities have been financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Government of Cantabria and European Union FEDER funds.

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

The Environmental Hydraulics Institute of the University of Cantabria held a seminar to celebrate International Day on Disaster Reduction 2018. University representatives took it as an opportunity to present the progress they have made in a study on multi-hazard early warning systems in Europe and Asia, which is conducted under the frame of the CABARET project.
