Collaborative Adaptation Research Initiative in Africa and Asia
Mission
The Collaborative Adaptation Research Initiative in Africa and Asia (CARIAA) is a 7-year program (2012-2019) jointly funded by Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC) and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID).
CARIAA is dedicated to build the resilience of vulnerable populations and their livelihoods in three kinds of climate change hot spots in Africa and Asia: deltas, semi-arid lands, and glacier- and snowpack-dependent river basin. To do this, the program supports four consortia, which conduct collaborative research on climate change adaptation and resilience in these hot spots.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
