Obama administration emergency managers are proposing to toughen the requirements for federally funded construction projects to try to make flood-prone communities more resilient to the increased risks expected from global warming. The Federal Emergency Management proposed the rules, which would require federally funded construction to take place on higher ground.
The public has to learn from this Category 1 hurricane and do what experts in disaster preparedness ask to do, develop a plan, work the plan and take it seriously, in order to be better prepared for a Category 2 or 3...

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
