Mission
Caritas Latin America and the Caribbean is a network made up of 22 national Caritas, whose mission is to encourage and coordinate the organized charity of the Church, which walks synodically, promoting fraternity. As Pope Francis says, "Caritas is an essential part of the Church, because a Church without charity does not exist. Caritas is the institution of love of the Church."
We formed and worked in communion with Caritas Internationalis, a world confederation with more than 160 national members and is the second largest humanitarian organization in the world. We have a sincere commitment to combating injustices that lead to poverty and the exclusion of people of the most marginalized and vulnerable.
We focus on promoting human development, peace-building and economic justice, common house care and respond to some of the continent's largest and most complex emergency aid operations.
As a region we propose
- Strengthen collaborative listening, animation, reflection, articulation and incidence, enhancing humanitarian work, human development and peace-building.
- Support the process of institutional strengthening of the National Caritas, promoting their development and organizational sustainability.
Caritas LAC works through strategic alliances and cooperation with various ecclesial agencies, civil society institutions and organizations, social partners and governments to promote social and environmental justice through inclusion, integration, comprehensive human development and humanitarian response.

Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
