Arizona State Government plays a central role in disaster risk reduction by coordinating preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts across one of the most hazard-exposed states in the United States. Through statewide emergency management and hazard mitigation planning, Arizona addresses risks such as extreme heat, drought, flooding, wildfires, and public health emergencies. The state integrates climate and heat risk considerations into resilience and public health strategies, with a strong emphasis on protecting vulnerable populations, outdoor workers, and communities facing prolonged heat exposure. Arizona also supports local governments through guidance, funding mechanisms, data, and technical assistance, enabling counties and cities to strengthen local DRR capacity.

Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
