Mission
AWF is dedicated to preserving the cultural values of coastal Louisiana.
AWF supports restoring the natural processes of the Mississippi River, the Atchafalaya River and Bayou Lafourche through the re-introduction of sediment and fresh water to the wetlands and the hydrology efforts needed to prevent accelerated land loss along the coast in the western part of the state.
AWF encourages smart land use and the mangement of risks.
AWF offers itself as a neutral arbiter, bringing diverse interests to the table to seek and establish solutions to ensure the sustainability of Louisiana’s coastal environment and the economic activities that take place there for the great benefit of the nation.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
