Survey on youth engagement on COVID-19 in Africa

Source(s): Africa Youth Advisory Board for DRR

This survey forms part of next steps from the recent webinar organized by the Africa Youth Advisory Board on Disaster Risk Reduction (AYAB DRR) in partnership with The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). If you were not able to take part in the webinar, you can watch it this link.

COVID-19 is a public health disaster described by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a pandemic and falls into the kind of disasters recognized by Africa's Programme of Action(PoA) to reduce disasters on the Continent. The PoA of the African Union Commission (AUC) recognizes youth as valuable and important stakeholders in DRR processes and it is for this reason AYAB DRR was established.

This survey will be focused on needs and people centered approach:

1. Collect Youth in Africa or Young Africans in the Diaspora actions (Physical/Digital) to respond and recover from COVID19

2. Gain deeper insights on challenges encountered in implementing youth action on COVID19

3. Arrive at a range of realistic and practical solutions to problems encountered by young people in implementing COVID-19 actions (Most of the time, young people already know the solutions to their challenges)

At the end of the day, great examples of initiatives submitted would be published and serve as an education material or lessons learnt material that would be published for the public health disasters.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: Saturday, 02nd May 2020
