Caribbean: Gender issues must be considered in disaster risk management

Speaking at an event to commemorate United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) World Population Day 2015 held this year under the theme ‘Making it Happen: Reducing Disasters, Saving Lives’, Executive Director of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), Ronald Jackson, explained that gender considerations have been identified as one of the cross cutting themes to be integrated into all comprehensive disaster management (CDM) programme areas in CDEMA participating states.
