"Emergencies caused by droughts can be stopped through timely action," Kenyan Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has said, reports the Star. She spoke Tuesday when she launched an interactive database platform for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands during a forum at Kenyatta University.

According to the article, Waiguru said the strategies to stop drought are anchored on six pillars, among them climate-proof infrastructure, drought risk management and institutional and knowledge development. She said her ministry is committed to providing leadership in planning, implementation and coordination of sustainable development in dry areas.
