US: 'Prepare yourself, natural disasters will only get worse'

University of Pennsylvania professor Erwann Michel-Kerjan writes for the Washington Post that Americans need to prepare for natural disasters to only get worse, as increased population and development means an increased likelihood of severe economic and insured losses in Florida and other hurricane-prone regions unless cost-effective mitigation measures are implemented and the risk properly hedged and highlights some of the disasters that have already hit the U.S. this year.
