Special accreditation applications for UN Diplomatic Conference on Protection of Persons in the Event of Disasters (PPED)
In December 2025, the United Nations General Assembly decided to convene the United Nations Conference of Plenipotentiaries on Protection of Persons in the Event of Disasters, to meet in Manila for three weeks from 25 January to 12 February 2027, and, if necessary, for a further two weeks in August 2027.
The aim of the conference is to elaborate and conclude a legally binding instrument on the protection of persons in the event of disasters, without prejudice to the legal effects of any particular provisions contained therein.
To support inclusive participation in this process, the special accreditation is now open for NGOs, civil society organizations, academic institutions, private sector entities and other relevant stakeholders seeking to participate in the Conference in Manila.
Complete the application through the Civil Society Platform.
Application deadline is 12 June 11:59 p.m. EDT.
Please note:
- Accreditation is a prerequisite for registration to participate in the Conference, and it is completed at the organizational level.
- Applying for special accreditation is only the first step and does not guarantee access to the Conference. If your organization is approved for special accreditation, you must also register for the Conference in Manila and apply for any visa necessary to enter the Philippines.
- Accredited entities will be informed and will receive further instructions on registration for the Conference.
- Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) with consultative status with ECOSOC do not need to apply for this ad-hoc special accreditation. A separate registration portal for conference registration will be available closer to the event date.
Who can participate?
Observers from NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC are invited to attend. In addition, NGOs, civil society organizations, academic institutions and private sector entities without ECOSOC status can apply for special accreditation.
