'We must realize the fact that disasters threaten sustained economic growth' said Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani.

Mr Gillani was addressing the opening ceremony of the first National Disaster Risk Management Conference at the PM Secretariat to mark Disaster Awareness Day, an annual event to remember the October 2005 earthquake that killed more than 73,000 people and left 3.5 million homeless.
