Pakistan: Five more ministries join disaster risk reduction group

Five more federal ministries joined the National Working Group (NWG) for preparedness and mitigation initiatives, bringing the number of total ministries to ten, to ensure mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction into the development programmes and projects of selected ministries and donors.

The article also says that the working group is intended to "help in incorporating elements of disaster risk assessment and risk reduction in the planning, design and implementation stages of their projects, so that a sustainable economic and social development could be achieved by minimising shocks from disasters".
