The Disaster Aid Tracking Database was launched on Tuesday at 2013 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva, revealing the problem of how little amount of money goes to this purpose. According to Devex, 25 U.N. International Strategy for Disaster Reduction priority countries for disaster resilience have received more funds for disaster preparedness and prevention activities than emergency response, with only 13 percent of some $42 billion of international aid meant for natural disasters spent on disaster preparedness and prevention in the last two decades.
