New legislation effective 1 April 2010, will oblige Chinese authorities to develop emergency response plans and draw up preventative measures for severe weather disasters to reduce the loss of lives, reports Chinaview.
The country's first meteorological disaster prevention regulation has six chapters and 48 items to guide disaster control and prevention work, said Gao Fengtao, deputy director of the legislative office of the State Council yesterday, at a news conference held by the State Council Information Office.
