A WaterAid analysis shows that areas in northern and central India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, southern Madagascar and southern Mozambique are facing acute water scarcity, threatening the lives and livelihoods of millions. The world's poorest regions will feel the strongest impact, as large numbers of their residents have already struggled to access a safe source of water.

Cities affected by water shortages, periods of drought and declines in the availability of groundwater resources can reduce the negative impact of water scarcity by using technical solutions that make them better prepared for dry periods.
