5:00 PM–7:00 PM UAE TimeWhen Systems Are Overwhelmed: Leadership, Community Resilience and Innovation Before the Next Disaster is a global virtual round table organized by TecHive Association to examine how disaster management systems, leaders and communities can prepare for situations in which demands exceed institutional capacity.

About

The discussion will focus on strengthening disaster preparedness and resilience before crises escalate. It will explore the role of leadership and decision-making during complex emergencies, the contribution of community preparedness and local capacity, the relationship between formal disaster management systems and community-led action, and the potential of innovation to strengthen preparedness and resilience.

The event aims to support disaster risk reduction by encouraging cross-sector knowledge exchange, sharing practical lessons from experienced leaders and practitioners, and identifying approaches that can help institutions and communities prepare for increasingly complex and interconnected risks.

The round table will bring together voices from disaster risk reduction, emergency management, humanitarian action, community response and innovation, including Dovie Maisel, Ricardo Mena, Walter Cotte, William Craig Fugate and Ashish Kulkarni, with Ashwina Kulkarni as moderator.

The event is relevant for disaster risk reduction and emergency management professionals, government representatives, humanitarian and development organizations, researchers and academics, resilience and preparedness practitioners, NGOs, community organizations, technology and innovation professionals, and others working in disaster preparedness and risk management.
