Webinar series "Fostering a local just resilience" - Policy Support Facility

The EU Policy Support Facility reaches European cities and regions with its first series of interactive webinars “Fostering a local just resilience”, taking place online on 22, 23 and 24 March 2022. Through these sessions, participants will be able to become part of a community of local and regional authorities interested in taking climate adaptation action. This series will be the first of a number of activities that aim to support cities and regions in the implementation of their resilience plans, through peer-to-peer learning and tailored support from experts.

The first session “Navigating the EU policy and financial landscape” will inform participants about the functioning and main objectives of the new EU Policy Support Facility, setting it in the framework of the latest European policies on climate change adaptation. The webinar will provide an overview of the financing and funding opportunities at the EU level that can help cities and regions to put adaptation plans into action. The session will finally include a space for participants to exchange on their experience and needs for climate adaptation funding. In this framework, attendees will have the opportunity to show their interest to receive tailored support from national and international experts in future activities.

Building on the first introductory webinar, 2 panel discussions will address specific topics related to climate adaptation in cities and regions. The session “Speeding up adaptation to reduce disaster risk” will present local experiences of disaster risk management, with particular reference to the implementation of nature-based solutions (NBS). This will be an opportunity to introduce the activities that the Policy Support Facility will implement to support cities interested in improving their disaster risk management strategies.

The panel discussion “Implementing a just climate adaptation” will focus on just transition as a resilience building process. Panellists will bring experiences of stakeholders' engagement and socially inclusive measures for climate adaptation. This will be the opportunity to introduce the activities that the Policy Support Facility will implement to support cities interested in a just resilience building process.
