We cordially invite you to participate in the 21st biennial World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) Congress taking place from 7-10 May 2019 in Australia’s third-largest city of Brisbane. Co-hosted by the Queensland University of Technology, the Congress aims to provide another innovative and dynamic scientific program.

The WADEM Congress 2019 will build off the success of the previous Congress in Toronto in 2017, which attracted more than 900 delegates. With a theme of "The Future", the Congress will challenge the thinking of delegates drawn from all continents and from all areas of health care and emergency management. The Congress will include over 30 tracks with high profile international and local speakers, as well as a range of interactive and innovative sessions designed to maximize the experience for participants and create a legacy for the future. Specific focus will be on future risks, the future community, future solutions, and future thinking.

The scientific program will offer a diversity of professional interests and expertise that explores innovation and best practices globally in emergency medicine and health aspects of disaster management and humanitarian aid. There will be a specific focus on what the future holds including understanding risks, the impact on our future communities and what these will look like, as well as future solutions including the role of technology. Importantly, the Congress will generate a number of key statements that will help define future collaborative work projects for WADEM, its members and its partners.

Preparations are well underway and we anticipate an intellectually challenging time, as well as an enjoyable opportunity to experience Australia and its unique wildlife and environment. The Organising Committee are preparing an engaging social program to give you the best flavor of Australian music, culture and cuisine.

Brisbane is a modern, dynamic, vibrant and lifestyle city with direct access to Australia’s top tourist attractions, making it an ideal destination for pre- and post-Congress touring. It is home to world-class restaurants, a diverse nightlife and burgeoning music scene, stylish shops and urban art spaces.

Please register by 3 May before rates increase. We look forward to welcoming you to Brisbane!
