TIEMS 2023 Hybrid Annual Conference

This conference will be accompanied by a set of field trips and workshops on the TIEMS TQCTM & TQACTM International Certification and the emergency management/disaster risk management of the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa.

The conference will be hosted by the TIEMS South Africa Chapter and Rhodes University in collaboration with the University of Žilina, Slovakia; Institute for Disaster Management of the National University of Public Service, Budapest, Hungary.

South African professional organizations will also be supporting the conference, such as the North-West Umbrella Fire Protection Association.

The main topic of the 2023 Annual TIEMS Conference is:

Crises, Emergencies and Disasters – a Continium of Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century

Please join us, online or in person in beautiful southeast South Africa!

The following sub-topics will be discussed (not exclusive list):

  • Crisis management and its implications in complex situations facing humanity today
  • Emergency management in complex and hybrid environment
  • Climate and energy change and adaptation of rescue and response forces
  • Disaster risk reduction in the context of Sendai framework and SDGs
  • Social and political transitions in crisis/emergency/disaster risk management
  • AI, new technologies and cybersecurity in new emergency management
  • Global, regional, and local policy integration and coordination in crisis, emergency and disaster risk management
  • Other subjects related to the previous topics.
