Theater play "Burnings of the Burned"

It is time to plan prevention in the face of the risks that our county has and that unfortunately cuts across the whole country, rural fires. In the municipality of Torres Novas (Santarém - Portugal), more than 60% of fires have a negligent origin, which leads us to conclude that there are citizens who are not being preventive with each burning they make. From the indications we have, Torreja citizens make more than 11,000 requests per year to register their burnings, being the municipality that has the most records in the entire district of Santarém. However, there is prevention work based on awareness that must continue to be done in the community, always insisting on prevention. Torres Novas is a member of the MCR2030 (Make Cities Resilient 2030) of the United Nations, and in this context we will promote an activity aimed at the population of rural areas where statistically we have had some occurrences of rural fires. This cultural activity combines theater with civil protection notices addressing self-protection measures that each citizen must adopt, not only in the case of fires but also within the scope of the “Aldeia Segura” and “Pessoas Segura” Programs. The Parish Council of Pedrogão was the first to constitute a ULPC and to integrate the aforementioned programs, where since 2018 several simulations have been carried out. This play is dedicated and written for Civil Protection and is being technically reviewed by the SMPC and promoted by our Municipal Civil Protection Service, with the theme “Queimas dos Queimados”, which will have its premiere on January 8 at 4 pm in the parish of Pedrogão at Sociedade Filarmónica União Pedroguense.
