Resilience building: Hazard forecasting and catastrophe risk financing
The Hazards Forum workshops series: Bringing researchers together to reduce the impact of hazards on society
At a time when both the frequency and intensity of natural disasters are on the rise, the ability of countries to reduce their vulnerability to disasters and limit their fiscal exposure is becoming a priority. Building resilience requires pro-active mitigation. Hazard forecasting can be a crucial step towards taking action whilst risk financing is an important element of preparedness and recovery. This seminar will introduce and discuss these two key aspects of disaster risk reduction.
Sponsored by the SPIDER network these free lunchtime workshops provide talks on distinctive hazards subjects, practical research skills and an opportunity to network across the university and beyond.
