The 2009 World Disaster Reduction Day will be marked in Nigeria with a public lecture entitled: Making Hospitals Safe in Nigeria.

The roles of stakeholders to be delivered by Dr. Olugbenga Bejide on the 14th October, 2009 at Pentonrise Hall, Bodija, Ibadan. This year's event is being organised with the initiative of Centre for Disaster and Crisis Management (CDCM,Nigeria) in collaboration with Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (OYOSEMA), Project Shield, West Africa Network for Peacebuilding, Nigeria (WANEP-Nigeria). The chairman of the event is the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Oyo State, Dr. I.B. Owolabi.
