Learning exchange program on Community Disaster Resilience Fund workshop will be held at CYSD Bhubaneswar on 7th and 8th March 2010. Community women leaders from Orissa, especially Balasore,Kendrapada,Cuttack and Mayurbhanja will be participating.

This CDRF is in operation as Pilot in eight states starting from March 2009. This is a joint initiative of NDMA, (NADRR) National Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction) CSOs, coordinated by SSP Maharastra.

UDYAMA in Orissa is one of the CDRF partners to begin with. 12 GPs in most vulnerable areas prome to floods, cyclone and droughts. Few community based partners are working in a network with UDYAMA to undertake this CDRF pilot

The objective to hold this learning exchange workshop is to bring confidence of community women leader and excluded groups to be part of community disaster Resilient Process: following are brief objectives.
-To reflect the understanding on CDRF
-To highlight the potentiality of women groups in community resilience
-Actions and initiatives undertaken by community women folks
-Linkage the knowledge and know-how on community resilience
-Future course of action.

There has substantial initiatives have been made in Orissa on DRR and more evidence based program have been undertaken from government , non-government involving community and PRIs but this small initiative CDRF undertaken by women is first of kind in India and Asia.
