IPCC Special report on 'Managing the risks of extreme events and disasters to advance climate change adaptation' lead authors meeting

At its 38th session (24-25 November 2008), the IPCC Bureau decided to conduct a scoping meeting, to provide support for a future decision on whether to endorse the Special Report. The Bureau requested that the meeting produce a scoping paper describing process, objectives, and an annotated outline.

The outcome of the meeting provided guidance to the 39th session of the Bureau and the 30th session of the IPCC (20-23 April 2009), where it was decided to prepare the Special Report, following IPCC procedures and with the involvement of the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR).
