International Day for Disaster Reduction in the ECO Region

A ceremony will be held to celebrate IDDR 2017 in the ECO Region. The main objective of this event to raise awareness in ECO Region about the Sendai process, including target B. The event is intended to raise visibility of ECO and its DRR profile among stakeholders and partners.

Target audience

Expected attendees of the event are representatives of ECO Member States, officials from regional and international organizations, the media, local communities, and Ankara-based UN agencies.

Tentative programme

10:00 - 10:15: Opening remarks by Dr. Mehmet Gulluoglu, Head of AFAD
10:15 - 10:30: Remarks by Mr. Seyed Jalaledin Alavi Sabzevari, ECO Deputy Secretary General
10:30 - 10:45: Video message from UNISDR
10:45 - 11:45: Roundtable on "Reducing the number of affected people" at regional level
11:45 - 12:00: Group photo
12:00 - 12:30: Reception
