International Day for Disaster Reduction 2017 - Province of Cavite, Philippines
The Provincial Government of Cavite under its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office - Cavite Office of Public Safety (PDRRMO-COPS) together with the Humanitarian Leadership Academy - Philippine Academy Center (HLA-PAC) and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is supporting the global celebration of the IDRR Day.
Recently a consortium was organized under the banner project Vulnerability and Impact Reduction for Earthquake or Project Viper, which aims to develop a Provincial Wide Contingency Plan for the 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake triggered by the West Valley Fault. The said earthquake is famously known in the Philippines as the West Valley Fault.
In the IDRR Day Celebration, the PDRRMO-COPS will be organizing a film-showing and forum on climate change impacts at Rogationist College in Silang, Cavite.
The event will be participated by HLA and ADRA. HLA will be setting up a booth for its online platform KayaConnect!
The organizers will also highlight the preparations to the 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake, or the Big One, which will traverse the West Valley Fault and will directly hit the Province of Cavite including the towns of Silang, Carmona and, GMA.
