From insights to impact: Lessons and evidence for adaptation and resilience program design
- English
About
As climate impacts intensify, the need for robust, evidence-based adaptation and resilience programming is increasingly urgent. As multilateral climate funds, the Adaptation Fund and CIF have built strong track records in using data, evaluation, and learning to strengthen climate investments and inform better decision-making.
Join the two funds for a virtual session that will explore how lessons from both the Adaptation Fund and CIF are shaping the next generation of adaptation and resilience programs. It will examine how evidence informs program design and decision-making, why evidence-based approaches are essential for scaling impact, and how recent studies offer practical lessons on what drives results across contexts. The discussion will also feature reflections from partner countries and multilateral development banks (MDBs) on using evidence to guide national adaptation strategies and future climate investments.
The Adaptation Fund has, since 2010, approved nearly $1.5 billion for more than 200 projects across over 100 countries, with a strong emphasis on direct access and community-based adaptation. Learning and results-based management are central to its strategy, generating practical insights on what drives effective, innovative, and sustainable adaptation.
Since 2008, CIF’s Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) has supported over 31 countries, embedding climate resilience across more than 800 national and sectoral plans. Evaluations show PPCR has driven institutional and policy change, while also highlighting gaps in systems change, private sector engagement, and long-term sustainability. These lessons directly informed the design of CIF’s Accelerating Resilience Investments and Innovations for Sustainable Economies (ARISE) program, grounding the next generation of resilience investments in evidence and country-led priorities.
