DARA, together with the Government of Bangladesh- the chair of the Climate Vulnerable Forum- will launch the second edition of the Climate Vulnerable Monitor.

The updated and much improved edition of the 2010 Monitor will significantly expand the existing evidence base to help shift policy and practice within the climate change domain. The report will highlight climate-related concerns, including carbon-intensive development and climate change impacts, as one of the world’s most serious health threats, drivers of humanitarian disasters, and a principal impediment to development, especially for countries already struggling to attain key international objectives like the Millennium Development Goals.

DARA and the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) published the Climate Vulnerability Monitor 2010- The State of the Climate Crisis in London and Cancun in December 2010. The groundbreaking report transformed complicated scientific and economic data into accessible and understandable information at the country level on how climate change is affecting people now, how it will evolve over time, and the practical measures that can help minimize the vulnerability and human impact of climate change today and in the coming decades.

The event will be divided into two sessions:

First Session (9:30 – 11:00am) – Presentation of the findings of the monitor, and statements from Heads of State representing several CVF countries, including H.E. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Second Session (11:30 – 12:55pm) – Presentation of the findings of the monitor, and panel discussion involving senior contributors to the Monitor, CVF ministers, representatives of the UN system, media, private sector, and civil society.
