It is from this background that the e-Enhancement Centre invites you and your organization to a 5 days Intensive GIS Mapping and Spatial Analysis for Policy Makers (Using ArcGIS 10.2), 23- 27th March 2015, in Nairobi Kenya.
Course Introduction
Almost all the data collected, analysed and visualized in all organizations have a spatial element. This has made Geographic Information Systems (GIS) a standard component in NGOs, public and private organizations. This has also created the need for GIS professionals in these organizations.
This five-day training will incorporate theoretical and comprehensive hands-on training on ArcGIS software including data input, geodatabase creation, GIS spatial analysis, production/visualization of GIS outputs and practical applications of GIS. This course will be conducted using ArcGIS software.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, the participants should be able to:
- Define GIS and understand the ArcGIS architecture,
- Understand and use different data models,
- Find and organize geographic/spatial data and other GIS resources,
- Update and edit geographic data,
- Manage, symbolize, and label map layers to optimize spatial data visualization
- Create map layouts to visualize GIS data and share analysis results to be visualized using desktop applications, internet and mobile platforms
- Perform GIS analysis to answer spatial questions
Course Delivery
This is an intensive, instructor-led training which will be delivered through presentation (10%), demonstrations (20%) and guided practicals/exercises (70%). Our facilitators are professionals and trainers with several years of experience in this field. The course will be delivered in English.
Certificates will be issued on successful completion of the Course.
