First IQPC disaster management and crisis response Africa
The increase in the intensity and scope of natural disasters and human-made hazards as well as the lack of food security, civil unrest and poverty are serious challenges to effectively addressing disaster and crisis situations in Sub-Saharan Africa.
A unified and coherent national disaster management plan is therefore crucial for dealing with a variety of crisis scenarios to minimise the fatalities, the collateral damage and the economic impact.
The first IQPC Disaster Management and Crisis Response Africa event will provide comprehensive disaster management practical knowledge, skills and strategies and will offer an opportunity for disaster management practitioners to gather and identify challenges and achievements in implementing disaster management and crisis response plan in the region.
Key issues to be discussed include
- Exploring effective strategies and technologies for disaster prevention, mitigation, response and recovery
- Optimising emergency preparedness and risk mitigation for effective crisis response
- Assessing the key requirements to optimise humanitarian relief operations
- Addressing key issues and requirements in implementing long-term disaster management plans
- Enhancing inter-agency cooperation and coordination to improve disaster management
