Development and climate days
Development and Climate Days is an annual event held during the UNFCCC Conference of Parties and organised by IIED in collaboration with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the Regional and International Networking Group (RING). These two day events involve formal presentations of work on adaptation to climate change, and climate change as a development challenge. It also creates a platform of networking, provides opportunities to disseminate relevant literature and reports, and to showcase videos of community based adaptation innovative work.
This year's Development and Climate Days event will take place from 4 to 5 December at the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand in Cancun Mexico. As in the past years, this event will involve formal presentation of work on adaptation to climate change, and climate change as a development challenge. It will also create a platform of networking opportunities; provide opportunities to disseminate relevant literature and reports and to showcase videos of community based adaptation innovative work.
The focus of the event at COP16 will be on supporting the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge by practitioners and researchers from developing countries. This is in recognition of the challenges that developing country researchers face in funding research and publicising research findings; in response to the need to ensure that evidence from the global south is included in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and other assessments; and, with the intention of questioning the norms of what is considered 'valid' knowledge to inform policy.
The finalised programme for this two day event be available on the website below.
As in previous years, a film festival will be running in parallel to Development and Climate Days.
