About

Natural and nature-based features are widely recognized for their ability to address challenging environmental, climate and social issues. Project managers, however, often struggle with determining the costs of designing, developing, building and monitoring these methods in part due to the lack of proper mechanisms to assess their financial costs within existing engineering and project management frameworks. This seminar will dive deeper into the topic of cost uncertainty for natural and nature-based methods, first providing an overview by WWF of current challenges and opportunities in cost estimation and management. Then, we will hear from Allan Annaert, Cost Engineering Subject Matter Expert at the US Army Corps of Engineers, and Sergio Angon, Senior Consultant at UNEP’s CityAdapt project, on their experience and lessons learned related to the cost assessment process. The session will conclude with a group discussion as well as time for Q&A.
