The course is designed particularly for postdocs and advanced PhD students working with climate extremes, hazards, risk assessment and related environmental time series.

An important aim of the course is to transfer quantitative methods into practical scientific use, including for early-career researchers working on climate and disaster risks in highly exposed regions.

The course combines an e-book, carefully designed recorded lectures, hands-on tutorials and portable analysis software (Windows/macOS plus source code). The videos also demonstrate how the software is applied to real data and can be revisited throughout the course and the subsequent feedback period.

Daily live discussion complements the recorded material. After the course, participants receive a two-month individual feedback period to continue working on applications, including their own data.

For selected participants, opportunities for follow-up scientific collaboration and joint funding applications may also be explored.

Capacity: 10 participants
Course fee: EUR 1,200 + VAT where applicable
Registration deadline: 15 January 2027
