12th session of the African ministerial conference on the environment (AMCEN)

The African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) is a permanent forum where African ministers of the environment discuss mainly matters of relevance to the environment of the continent.  The AMCEN was established in 1985 when African ministers met in Egypt and adopted the Cairo Programme for African co-operation. The Conference is convened every second year. The objective of AMCEN is to halt environmental degradation and promote sustainable development in Africa by enhancing inter-governmental co-operation among African countries.

Provisional agenda of the AMCEN:
1. Opening of the twelfth session.
2. Organizational matters:
     a) Election of officers
     b) Adoption of the agenda
     c) Organization of work
3. Consideration of the report of the expert group meeting.
4. Ministerial policy dialogue.
5. Consideration of matters related to the AMCEN process:
     (a) Amendments to the constitution of the AMCEN;
     (b) Status of the general trust fund of the AMCEN.
6. Country/subregion case studies.
7. Consideration of some matters related to the sixteenth session of the Commission on Sustainable Development.
8. Venue for the thirteenth session of the AMCEN.
9. Adoption of the report of the ministerial segment.
10. Other business.
11. Closure of the session.
