Drought in Lesotho heightened HIV risk in girls

New research reveals that teenage girls exposed to severe drought in rural Lesotho had higher rates of HIV and lower educational attainment. The research suggests that some women may have relied on sex work to survive or were pulled from school for transactional marriages. Drought interventions should therefore target the myriad factors contributing to vulnerability.
