In this role is a subject matter expert in training and volunteer management for the BC Provincial Disaster Management Program. Supports the Regional Volunteer Teams by providing guidance and support in areas of planning, recruitment, retention and recognition as well as implements national volunteer resources policies and procedures.

Areas of responsability 

National Volunteer Management: Systems & Structures
- Establishes standards for recruitment, retention and recognition in the BC Disaster Management Program (DM) in alignment with National Volunteer Resources guidelines.
- Provides leadership and guidance with the Provincial DM Human Resource Volunteer Team in planning and response. 

Program Planning & Training Development
- Plans, implements and evaluates the Provincial DM training program within the scope of the national plan.
- Collaborates with the Regional Disaster Management Coordinators and the BC Volunteer Instructor Teams to ensure volunteers receive the training that is required for successful placement during a response. 

Quality Assurance & Case Management
- Ensures the Disaster Management Program creates a high level of standard in volunteer service delivery in the community
- Provides ongoing program evaluation, maintains high level quality assurance and establishes best practises and performance management systems. 

Qualifications 

- The minimum qualifications for this job are a Bachelors Degree in a related field and 3 years of job-related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluency in English required and an additional language is an asset
- Strong communications (written & oral) and interpersonal relationship-building skills required
- Volunteer Management experience required
- Adult education and/or experience managing training programs an asset
- Advanced organizational and analytical skills required
- Prefers working in team environment, but can act independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
- This position is subject to a satisfactory criminal record check
- A valid BC Driver’s License required
