Position summary
Earthquakes and megacities Initiative (EMI), an international, not-for-profit organization involved in urban development and disaster risk management currently seeks a technical manager for its training unit.
The position involves responsibility in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs, training needs assessments and analysis, promotion, performance and long term sustainability assessment, partnership development, and other projects of the training unit at EMI. The position also involves managing externally funded grants and projects and requires a strong background in communication and project management.
The position may involve travel overseas to project locations. The Manager will directly report to the knowledge development and dissemination department manager. He/she will have responsibility over managing and ensuring performance of the staff assigned to the training unit.
Qualifications
- Master's degree preferably in areas such as engineering, architecture, urban planning, environmental studies, economics, public policy, technology management, developmental studies or communication;
- A minimum of 8 years of work experience with at least five (3) years of progressive professional experience in the design, development and implementation of training programs;
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex multiple objective projects preferably implementation of externally funded grants in the development and/or humanitarian sectors;
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, promotion and advocacy; and partnership development;
- Knowledge of disaster management is a plus;
- Excellent writing, editing and communication skills, with keen eye for detail;
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications (e.g. Powerpoint, Excel, Word). Knowledge of desktop publishing software and web technology highly desirable; and
- Self motivation, flexibility in work assignments, good judgment, and independent thinking.
