Description
The program is designed primarily for emergency management professionals. Keeping this in mind the course offers flexibility to complete the degree on a part time schedule. Students can elect to enrol in one or two courses during the fall and spring semesters as well as one during the summer. The curriculum consists of twenty-four credit hours of required courses and an additional six credit hours of electives. The degree program, therefore, requires students to complete a total of thirty credit hours. It will be possible for students to complete the program within two years; they must complete it, however, within five years.

Admission requirement
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Completion of either the Miller's Analogies Test (MAT) or the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Work(ed) in an emergency management, or related, job OR served as volunteer in emergency management related organization. Applicants whose first language is not English must submit their score from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) along with the MSEM application. The TOEFL must have been completed within the previous five years. Prior to acceptance for admission to the program, a telephone interview will be arranged with the MSEM program director.
