Certified Expert in Risks and Crisis Management Control
The online training aims to develop participants’ skills in managing risks, crises, and disasters, focusing on providing the knowledge on how to address and manage them to ensure continuous activities and operations of organizations while avoiding the effects of crises.
Overview
In an increasingly interconnected, globalized and complex world, where the importance of multilateral dialogue and cooperation is ever growing, the demand from major stakeholders in international relations for training and capacity development in the field of multilateral diplomacy is constantly rising. Over the past decade, UNITAR has been actively engaged in supporting governments and other actors by transferring knowledge and know-how on the practices, policies and procedures of the multilateral working environment and the United Nations intergovernmental machinery as well as on contemporary diplomacy-related topics.
In the rapid dynamic change happening in all technical and administrative areas, crises have become one of the challenges that face many organizations. When a crisis occurs, it becomes crucial in the journey of any institution and must be addressed effectively through a successful crisis management approach. With climate change having a global impact on environment, expectations are higher for many crises and natural disasters to come, requiring the ability to plan, predict and anticipate future disasters and projected risks. The need arises to prepare contingency plans and to train people on implementing them, hence risks and crises can be successfully and wisely managed.
The ”Professional Diploma: Certified Expert in Risks and Crisis Management and Control”, previously offered exclusively by HBMSU, will be developed into a joint HBMSU-UNITAR version of the Programme, in which UNITAR would take over the delivery of two modules in English, to produce a co-designed training activity with the overall aim to increase the awareness and understanding of students of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) on managing risks, crises, and disasters. Building upon the success of previous UNITAR-HBMSU Programmes, such as the International Leaders Programme, the Professional Diploma aims to further solidify the existing partnership between UNITAR and HBMSU and will extend their offered portfolio to the field of crisis management.
Overall Goal
The training aims to develop skills of students of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University in managing risks, crises, and disasters, focusing on providing the knowledge on how to address and manage them to ensure continuous activities and operations of organizations while avoiding the effects of crises. The secondary purpose of this joint venture is to make the diploma more applicable from an international perspective, by adding components in the English language. The training can be delivered either online, via Zoom, or in-person, in Geneva, Switzerland. Annex II of this Agreement includes budgets for both options, to be selected at HBMSU’s discretion.
Target Audience
The programme addresses the needs of a group of a maximum of 25 students of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU). The Professional Diploma will target students and junior to mid-career professionals from the public and private sector.
