Mission

The UCL Department for Risk and Disaster Reduction (former Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction or IRDR) brings together the wealth of knowledge and expertise across the university, and through research, teaching, public engagement and knowledge exchange aims to improve the understanding of risk and overcome the barriers to increasing resilience to disasters.

Institute for Risk & Disaster Reduction message for IDDRR 2022
In 2022, the International Day will focus on Target G of the Sendai Framework: “Substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to people by 2030.”

Voluntary Commitments

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
