Background
Over the past 20 years disasters have affected 4.4 billion people, caused USD 2 trillion of damage and killed 1.3 million people.
In a series of workshops organized by Iran National Disaster Risk Management Organization, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction is being introduced to the heads of provinces and senior officers across the country.
The Inauguration Ceremony of the Tehran Disaster Resilience Center (TDRC) was held in the presence of Deputy Minister of Interior and the Head of National Disaster Management Organization (NDMO), Mr. Najar, on April 6, 2015.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
