The Kenya Government in partnership with the Baringo County Government and other partners are hosting the National IDDR Celebrations in Marigat, Baringo County.
The overall goal of the symposium is to facilitate the exchange and updating of information on disaster risk reduction associated with climate variability and change.
Driven by the theme Women and Girls: the [in]Visible Force of Resilience, International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) 2012 draws attention to what women and girls are doing to reduce disasters risks in their homes, communities, and societies.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
