Case study: Taking the edge off extreme-weather impacts
This document presents several case studies from West Africa, Tuvalu and Colombia, in which IFRC played a role to improve disaster risk reduction. In West Africa, the IFRC disaster managers decided to further emphasize their focus on disaster preparedness. It further asserts that a summary of a new report on weather extremes ("SREX") by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) may provide specific guidance on how extremes can be judged over the next few decades.
