Georgia's Voluntary National Report for the Midterm Review of the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (MTR SF).
The goal of nationally determined contribution of Georgia is to support the sustainable and balanced development of the country, equally taking into consideration climate change, environmental and socio-economic challenges.
The Emergency Management Service of Georgia celebrated International Day for Disaster Reduction with simulation exercises, quiz shows, training sessions, and other events intended to raise awareness and promote a culture of disaster preparedness. These celebrations were organized in coordination with the private sector and eleven NGOs.
In January 2017, the Government of Georgia adopted the National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy of Georgia 2017-2020, its Action Plan and Annex to the Action Plan.
The goal of this strategy is to establish the unified disaster risk reduction (DRR) system, improve disaster preparedness and response capabilities at national and local levels, and to increase response efficiency to the possible threats.
This report reviews the availability of data in Georgia, to report against the indicators recommended to measure the global targets of the Sendai Framework, and identify current gaps.
On 26-28 March, 2017 Georgia participated in the European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction (EFDRR) Open Forum in Istanbul, Turkey. In the beginning of 2017, the Government of Georgia has approved the National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy and Action Plan 2017-2020. Currently, the country is elaborating a Disaster Loss Assessment and Recovery System and developing an Early Warning System.
The 2nd Resilience Forum will be held 28 February from 9:00 - 17:00 in Batumi, Georgia. This year's theme is Safe Environment, Strong Communities, Sustainable Businesses.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
