Working Class Climate Alliance (WCCA)
Mission
The Working Class Climate Alliance is a grassroots organisation which amplifies working class voices in mainstream environmentalism and activism.
Working-class people have a rich history of environmental engagement and deep knowledge of how to care for the planet and each other, yet a lack of time and money, alongside social exclusion rooted in classism, racism and other biases, alienates them from environmental spaces. The WCCA exists to change who the environmental movement is built by and for.
Originally established as a membership organisation, they have since evolved to focus on education, advocacy and skills training. WCCA also helps working-class communities and trade unions campaign for climate justice.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
