Mission
The City of Logan is a green city full of pride, opportunity and culture. The City of Logan is a local government area located in the south of Greater Brisbane in South East Queensland, Australia. Situated between the City of Brisbane to the north and the City of Gold Coast to the south, the City of Logan also borders the Scenic Rim Region, the City of Ipswich, and Redland City LGAs. Logan is divided into 70 suburbs and 12 divisions; a councillor is elected to each of the latter. Citizens work together to know our customers’ needs so we deliver what matters and what makes a difference. Citizens make decisions with empathy and recognise that our community’s needs are at the core of every decision we make now and into the future.
Logan City Council in Queensland, Australia undertakes several disaster risk reduction (DRR) activities aimed at strengthening preparedness, reducing risk, and improving community resilience to hazards such as floods, storms, bushfires and heatwaves. The city maintains a Local Disaster Management Plan coordinated by the Local Disaster Management Group, which brings together multiple agencies to oversee disaster prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. Logan also operates early warning systems and an online disaster dashboard to provide residents with real-time information and alerts before and during emergencies. In addition, the council supports community emergency planning initiatives that help residents understand local risks and prepare for disasters, while risk assessments and flood mapping inform land-use planning and development decisions to reduce exposure to hazards. Together, these measures integrate planning, early warning, community engagement and coordinated response to strengthen the city’s overall disaster resilience.

Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
