State mitigation planning policy guide

The State Mitigation Planning Policy Guide is FEMA's official policy on, and interpretation of, state hazard mitigation planning requirements. The guide facilitates consistent evaluation and approval of state mitigation plans and state compliance with the mitigation planning requirements when updating plans.

Guiding principles are the foundation of FEMA's approach to state mitigation planning and the approval of state mitigation plan updates every five years. State Mitigation Planning Guiding Principles:
