Severe storms over Europe, a cross-border perspective of Disaster Reduction: Second International Workshop, German Commitee for Disaster Reduction, Schloss Hohenkammer, 26-28 March 2007, Summary Report, DKKV publication series, 36
Current observations and climate model calculations indicate that the climate of our planet is changing. The scientists assume that in our latitudes, the changes will increase the frequency of extreme meteorological events such as severe storms. Disaster preparedness and response to severe weather events require a high level of communication and co-operation. Disaster relief can only be achieved through embracing collaboration of Federal, regional and local authorities, disaster relief organizations, insurance companies, the media and ultimately the people.
