Saint Lucia National Emergency Management Organization annual report for 2007/2008
This document reports on the disaster risk management activities of the Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia. It contributes to the country's disaster management systems review, which aims at developing a five year strategy and a multi-year work programme part of the National Emergency Management Organisation's mandate to achieve a nation prepared to deal with any disaster eventuality and to coordinate the response to the impact of any hazard.
This year's report paid special attention to the 2007 earthquake in Martinique which also affected the inhabitants of St.Lucia. The National Emergency Management Organisation has to therefore widen their focus in order to assess the impact of and prepare for other natural hazards.
